Biography
“Just because it doesn’t glitter, doesn’t mean it isn’t gold”

Kathy Marie Redwine is a dreamer.  Born and raised in Salem, OR, she has always had the influence of country music in her life.  Now it is her dream.  Though some may believe it to be far-fetched to become one of those famous country singers on the radio, she has never had a doubt in her mind since the moment she believed she could.

Kathy was born on June 22, 1979 as Kathy Marie Sendelbach.  She is an average 5 foot 6 inches tall, with blondish/brown hair, freckles, a beautiful smile, and the most reflective green eyes you’ll ever look into.

It was the start of fifth grade, and Kathy Marie decided to do more than just listen to music on the radio.  She started to play flute in the band and take piano lessons, and continued both instruments to the beginning of high school.  She began to love music!  Though sports (basketball and swimming) seemed to be her main passion, she soon found that her heart belonged to music-and maybe not through any other instrument but her own voice.  At the second semester of eighth grade, Kathy Marie tried out and joined choir.  She was hooked!  She continued choir through high school, even joined jazz choir for two years, and became Treasurer and President of South Salem’s Symphonic Choir.  Not only did the music make her happy, but so did the friendships and knowledge she gained from being part of an ensemble. >Back to Top

Her high school years also brought the opportunity to sing in the youth choir at her church; it was a small group of her and two guys.  Nothing made her happier and closer to God than singing on Sundays in front of the church.  With that also came a wonderful friendship with another musician, Julie Hoy.  Julie even asked her to take part on singing background for Julie’s first CD, Faith in the Will.  Kathy Marie enjoyed working in the recording studio and she loved being a part of the whole process.  When her senior year rolled around, she decided not only on Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon to be her new home for the next four years, but to keep with choir and singing.

August of 1997 came and Kathy Marie was off to college.  New town, new buildings, and new people were not frightening to her.  She is one of those people that everyone loves from the moment they meet her.  Her smile will capture anyone’s attention, yet her warm, humorous, and refreshing personality is what keeps them by her side.  Kathy Marie takes pride in her friends and family.  The first week of college she tried out for the top concert choir.  Stricken with bronchitis (for three months!) she sang her heart out and gave it her all.  Though her range was off, her commitment and desire shone through and got her a place in the choir, as a freshman, as an awesome alto.  Kathy Marie also continued with the swim team freshman year for Linfield, but as one of her hardest decisions, she decided on not returning to the team her sophomore year and dedicating her extra time to music.  The summer of 1998 she spent in California, and it was then that Kathy Marie wrote her first song and listened to her heart. She decided that she could become that country artist she had always dreamed of if she believed in herself and showed others why they should believe in her. >Back to Top

From that moment on, Kathy Marie has been trying to follow that path.  In her last three years of college, she wrote dozens of songs and put on two or three concerts a year.  She also took place in yearly country showdowns and talent shows.  Though the approval from judges and the audience is important, Kathy Marie has never let not winning first get her down.  Her senior year, she also squeezed in the making of her debut CD.  Not only was the process fantastic, but she also had the chance to work with some incredible people, including musicians, photographers, and graphic artists.  After all the years of dreaming secretly and in spotlight, she packed up what she learned along the way and drove it 3,000 miles to her new home.

And the place she took it to was Nashville, Tennessee. The time finally came for the big move that every musician will think about at one point or another.  Music City, USA.  Kathy Marie has taken some time to get settled in and scope out the city, but has big plans to shake up the town and get her foot in the door.  She has performed at the Blue Bird Café on open mic night and at the Wildhorse Saloon in an employee showcase.  Both experiences gave her good practice back up on stage and a feel for being herself in Nashville.

Kathy Marie is excited for what may lie ahead of her.  She loves writing new songs as more and more ideas come to mind.  With songwriting, her musical background, and her talent, those who believe in this young aspiring country artist should have no doubts about what she will become.  The whole world will be pleasantly surprised when she is discovered.
