BAND Guitar- Curtis Jackson's Biography: In childhood even as today, Curtis was always around music and music-makers. His father, Hal Jackson, has put in 25+ years into both the production and engineering sides of commercial and popular music. Hal's instrument talents include the Trumpet, Alto Saxophone, Piano, Guitar, and Harmonica. It was only natural that Curtis picked up his first instrument as a child. At the age of ten, he dabbled in the art of the violin. Always a lover of the traditional, his first solo was "Nearer My God to Thee" when only three months into his initial training. Being a multi-instrumentalist was not a strong passion in the beginning, so he put down the violin in high school and joined the Centennial High School Marching Band as a percussionist in the Fall of 1997. Earning high honors with both the Marching Band and Winter Percussion ensemble, he left the Percussion section shortly after beginning his Senior year. This gave more time and dedication to another new instrument, the Guitar. As a student of the founding Guitar class at Centennial High School, he soon gained a status as "Student Teacher" before graduation. Jury solos included "Classical Gas" and an original piece titled "Light at the End of the Tunnel." After high school, Curtis went on to begin studies at the Middle Tennessee State University in Recording Industry Engineering and Music Theory. It was as this mecca of new concepts formed that Curtis was able to buy his dream instrument, the Double Bass. This gave even more depth to his experience of the tonal spectrum: from a highly treble instrument such as the violin, to a mid-treble instrument such as the guitar, and finally to a bass instrument. Curtis' mother lived next door to Kathy, and they met more by chance than anything else. Curtis knew he could acheive many things playing his instruments, but he needed a singer. Kathy just needed a guy to play the guitar. Funny how things work out, eh? Currently, Curtis is working as a travel agent with Cendant Travel in Nashville, and lives in Donelson, Tennessee. He has purchased a violin and continues his pursuit of the art. His future wife, Susan Hammer, is finishing studies at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. They hope to marry before the end of 2004. |
